Hovercraft update
With 18.4 hours on the new craft and several outings i would say it works very well. It is suffering froman old ancient chinese diesease (assbedragon). looks like th 75horses are a not quite enough. So i am going to go from a 1.9 liter to a 2.3 liter with fuel injection. The craft just doesnt have enough power to really come out of the whole as fast as i would like. As i load passengers aboard the weather has to be flat and calm. by myself and camping gear with 10 extra gallons of fuel in cans i can make about 20 knots cruise and wide open only 23 knots. the cruise may be closer to 18?
I'm just now starting to put a list of parts together for the injection and engine. I'm going to start with the injection and get it running on this 1.9 liter and hope fully the little extra power i get from it will make cruising with extra weight better, but if not at least i can make sure the injection is up to snuff for the new bigger motor.
I'm going to build a custom injection system using all stock 1992 jeep 2.5 liter MPI sequential injection. My calculations show i need about 200to 226 cfm intake and the jeep has that. I will have the jeep ecm reprogrammed for this motor by affordable fuel injection. I will builld a custom tune port intake to put the jeep throttle body on and use CB performance injector manifolds with the stock gm jeep style distributor being remachined to fit the vw engine. This with all the sensors and the oil system adding a thermostat for the temp sendor should perform just like a jeep.
i'll update with prices etc on all the parts and machine work. i'm hoping to keep this under 500 or 600 dollars by doing it myself. about half of what you can buy it for minus the machine work. Like everything it will probably cost me more in the end but it will be mine! there are several great systems out there i just wanted to use off the shelf stock parts so i could get back on the road in hours not days. I think Napa carry's every single part in stock for the entire system.
the new motor at about 6000 rpm from what i have been reading is about 200 or so HP and i am planning on 4500 or 4000 rpm so i will lose a bit in not turning it up but my goal is 150 hp and i'm happy with 120 hp as thats what i read at amphibiuos marines web site for the 2.2 soob motor.

Thats right a brand new launch just for me!!!!!!!!! how sweet it is i can run from in the mountains of Washington all the way to the puget sound. I cant wait to start running these mountain rivers this summer. I've been dreaming of this now guys can fly up for the day or weekend and find a spare hover room waiting to catch some zzz's and a barbeque for all that fresh fish you caught on the way up.

This set up should be able to be shoe horned into a UH 10 and up. Probably going to need a prop re pitch if your repowering.

This winter really has been hell! I have at least 40 hours of work to be done to the Explorer and its been snowed in place on the trailer. My truck is a big 2wd f350 and it gets stuck on wet grass not to mention all the snow on the ground. I need to get a new carb on the engine, replace the floatation in the skirt and then simply get it back on the water and start moving some weight around to get the CG out of the way. I still need little things like a jack for the trailer in case I get a flat. Also the side running lights are not wired in on the trailer, which is propably a 20 minute job but it all adds up. The top is done for it yet so i need pretty decent weather to play in. On the up side i just ran it for the second time this winter and it starts right up and sounds great. I can feel it calling the islands and hopefully in the next couple months I can take it to the beach and set it free.

This video is the newest largest SEV craft I think in the world. My hats off to US Hovercraft once again they have shown that they are the new leader in sev technology. I hope to see plans go up for sale for these new craft designs. It's been to many years since we have had any real updates.

I had my parts done here and they are smooth. My lift fans were out about 31 and 33 grams which at full power is about 130lbs each. Thats to much and they were all cut on a jig.
You can mail the parts to them if your from out of town very inexpensively.

If you live within a 200 miles you should be at the events!! There is no growth in the area because only a few of us actually come out and hover!!!!!! Get off your butts and show up. Besides don't you want to hover? If you don't have a craft come fly in ours.

For sale or lease: Ex wife more than slightly used but will work well in a pinch late at night. Take over payments or cash out. I'm flexible here. Cooking and cleaning aren't her strong points. Free pair of ear plugs for anyone that wishes to take a test drive.
Compare to say a 10 year old BMW 105k on the odometer. Use to be able to put it out on the showroom floor and everyone wanted to take a ride. Now it's the same thing just at 50 fifty feet. Should HAVE splurged origanly for the extra quite muffler package. Didn't realize I was buying it then. Had planned on just renting one for a few trips. My mistake is your gain maybe. I've put her out on the curb for a little recycling as well as found another not so far away. Of course on someone else's curb. Will see how it goes. If intrested let me know and I can give you the trailer park number for her. Also she is not a push over for any guy. She has standards as far as I can tell. You must have a tooth as she will want you to brush it with your tooth brush. Enjoy and may GOD smile down on you while SATAN put's you through living hell with your next test drive.
